OUR HISTORY

A Space for Young People Who Love God

Open Circle started as a college society in National College of Ireland (NCI) back in 2018. The vision was for OC to be a space for students in university to gather and have a safe space to gather, learn and have conversations about God.

By the grace of God, over the years OC has grown into the what it is today. No longer just being a college society or a space just for university students. OC is a space for young people across different disciplines and stages of life to come and gather to hear the word, worship and grow deeper in intimacy with God.

Our anchor scripture is Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron so a friend sharpens a friend". That is what OC exists to do! We exist to impact, transform and develop people through the revelation of Jesus Christ in all spheres of influence. We are part of the greatest cause on earth, the cause of Jesus Christ.

Open Circle Values

Worship is the heartbeat in Open Circle. We want people to know and experience God through worship and true genuine fellowship. We are against the distractions and the performative ways, we are after the true authentic moments.

It is our mandate to point everything back to Jesus Christ. We will do any and everything short of sin to reach the lost. We ensure that the love of Christ and salvation is at the heart of our message.

People are at the centre of what we do here at Open Circle and we understand the value of having people feeling part of a community of love, transparency, trust and growth.

We believe being the realest version of ourselves makes us more relatable, impactful and influential than who we pretend to be.

Any and everyone that interacts with our organisation deserves to be respected regardless of their background. There is no tolerance for disrespect in and out of the team.

We are committed to doing all that we do as we are doing it unto God. We don’t do this to be seen but we do this to Serve the Body of Christ.

Here at OC We strive to grow in every area of our lives. We encourage and value growth in each other.

Creativity is our God given nature so we will ensure that we are creative in all we do. We look for creativity in every aspect of OC. “It doesn’t have to be original it just has to be you”

At Open Circle we believe that what we do should never be a burden but should be enjoyable and fun.

We want to serve God and have fun while doing so. We don’t have to but we Get to.

We believe and value the gifts and talents of our teammates so we will give honest and encouraging feedback. We believe feedback helps us fix what we may be ignorant to.

Our Beliefs

The Trinity

The Trinity

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority. (1 John 5:7; Genesis 1:26; Matthew 28:19, 3:16-17; Luke 1:35; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 3:7-11)

Eternity

Eternity

Man was created to exist forever. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (Matthew 5:3, 6:20; Mark 9:43-48; John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:27; 1 John 5:11-13; Revelation 14:9-11)

The Bible

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives. (Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Psalms 119:11, 105; Proverbs 30:5; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 22:29; John 5:39; Romans 15:4, 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12)

Repentance

Repentance

Man was created good and upright, but by voluntary transgression he fell into sin. His only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ. Repentance is a commitment to turn away from sin in every area of our lives and to follow Christ. Through repentance we individually receive forgiveness of sins and appropriate salvation. (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:17; Acts 2:38, 3:19; Romans 5:12-21)

Salvation

Salvation

The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift given through the grace of God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. (Luke 1:68-69; Romans 1:16-18; 2 Corinthians 5:17-20; Ephesians 2:8-10; Philippians 2:12-13; Hebrews 9:22-28)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit

His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of sin, God’s righteousness, & the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, & makes us more like Christ. Evidence of the Holy Spirit is seen in the fruits of the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:2; Psalms 51:11; Isaiah 61:1-3; Joel 2:28-32; Luke 1:35)

The Son

The Son

Jesus Christ is completely human but, at the same time, completely God. The Holy Spirit in the virgin, Mary, conceived him. He is the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life, so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23; Romans 1:3-4; )

The Father

The Father

God is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move and exist. God is good: He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises. (Exodus 3:14; Numbers 23:19; Leviticus 11:44-45; Psalm 11:4-6; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16; Acts 17:28; Romans 3:3-4)
